NEW ORLEANS – Another spectacular year in the classroom for the Miami women’s track and field program was recognized by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association.

Juniors Anna Lamb (Granville, Ohio/Granville) and Charlotte Myers (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) along with sophomore Laura Bess (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) all landed on the USTFCCCA All-Academic team while the RedHawks collectively performed in the classroom to the tune of a 3.52 team GPA.

Lamb qualified for the NCAA East Region preliminary meet for the second-straight season, placing 23rd in the 10,000m with a time of 35:18.23. The junior scored in both the 10,000m (second) and 5000m (sixth) at the MAC Outdoor Championships and clocked a season-best 10,000m time of 34:50.02 at the Mt. SAC Relays. She holds a 3.93 GPA as a kinesiology major.

Myers won the 800m at the MAC Outdoor Championships and qualified for her first preliminary meet. She handled herself well on the heightened stage, running a career-best 2:05.84 to advance to the field of 24 at the meet. That time put her second on the RedHawks’ all-time top-10 list. Myers is a kinesiology major with a 3.50 GPA.

Bess made her first trip to the NCAA East Region Preliminary in the 1500m. The sophomore placed 27th at the competition when she ran a career-best 4:23.28. Prior to that, Bess recorded a third-place finish in the 1500m at the MAC Outdoor Championships. She carries a 3.57 GPA as a bioengineering major.

Miami’s 3.52 collective GPA is the top mark in program history and put the Red and White in a tie for the 13th highest among all NCAA Division I women’s track and field programs. This is the 10th-straight year that the RedHawks have garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a competitor must hold at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and either finish in the top 96 nationally in an event during the indoor season or qualify for the preliminary meet outdoors. A team must achieve at least a 3.00 overall GPA to be included on the list All-Academic squads.
