DETROT, Mich. -- The Miami University football team was picked to finish sixth in the East Division of the Mid-American Conference poll, announced today by the conference office at its annual football media day at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

The poll was determined by 21 of the league’s media members.

Bowling Green was picked to win the East with 144 points, followed by Akron (114 points), Ohio (107 points), Buffalo (87 points), Kent State (72 points), Miami (43 points) and UMass (23 points).

In the West, Toledo was projected to advance to the MAC Championship game, also at Ford Field, on December 5. The Rockets recorded 114 points in the preseason poll. Northern Illinois was second (110 points), followed by Ball State (82 points), Central Michigan (67 points), Western Michigan (44 points) and Eastern Michigan (24 points).

Miami opens the season on Aug. 30 when it plays host to Marshall University inside Yager Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Season tickets remain on sale and can be purchased HERE.
