SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Former Miami University distance runner Dan Huling put together an impressive performance at last week’s USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet.
Huling finished runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase at the meet, which started out in a field of 19 competitors. After taking fourth in the preliminary race, the Nike “Bowerman Track Club” runner clocked a time of 8:19.73 in the finals. That pace was less than a second off of teammate Evan Jager’s winning time of 8:18.83.
At Miami, Huling won four individual Mid-American Conference titles. In 2006, he won the 3000m steeplechase, 5000m and 10,000m to earn the Most Outstanding Performer award at the MAC Outdoor Championships. He earned All-America honors that season with a sixth-place finish in the 5000m. He also won a MAC title and earned All-America distinction in cross country that fall.
