OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week baseball senior first baseman John Crummy and track and field senior thrower Tori Paterra are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of May 12-May 19.

Crummy continued his hot streak in the final week of the regular season by homering in three-straight games to help deliver the RedHawks a sweep at MAC rival Ohio. The senior posted a .462 average with four of his six hits going for extra bases, giving him a torrid 1.231 slugging percentage for the week. He enters the MAC Tournament on a seven-game hitting streak, during which he’s raised his average from .271 to .314. He also finished the regular season with a team-best .360 average in MAC play.

This is the second straight week time and third time in his career that Crummy has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week. In addition to winning last week, he previously earned the honor for the week of Feb. 27-March 4, 2012.

Paterra rewrote the Mid-American Conference's record book at the MAC Outdoor Championships by launching the javelin 183-5 to win an individual conference title. That throw vaulted her up the national leader board, putting her third in the nation prior to the NCAA East Region Preliminary meet.

This is the second time this season and fourth time in her career that Paterra has won the Miami Female Athlete of the Week award. She previously won it for the week of April 7-13.
