CLEVELAND, Ohio – Steve Sada’s (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) stellar week at the plate netted the Miami University baseball freshman recognition from the Mid-American Conference. The RedHawks’ second baseman was named the MAC East Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Sada batted a team-high .563 (9-for-16) with a .588 on-base percentage and a .938 slugging percentage. He also tied a team-high with five RBI. After going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBI against Eastern Kentucky, the freshman was bumped up to the leadoff spot for Miami’s series at Eastern Michigan. He caught fire in the final two games of the series, where he went 7-for-10 with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored and two RBI.
This is the first time Sada has earned a weekly award this season.
The RedHawks play the first of five home games this week on Tuesday when they host Dayton at 6 p.m.
