Oxford, Ohio – Entering the weekend with sole possession of first place in the Mid-American Conference, the Miami University women’s tennis team controls their destiny as they host Western Michigan on Friday at 1 p.m. followed by Bowling Green at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Saturday’s match, the last regular season home tilt of the season for Miami (13-6, 5-1 MAC), will serve as Senior Day for the RedHawks. Seniors Nimisha Mohan and Christiana Raymond will both be honored on the court prior to the start of the match.
Miami returns to Oxford for the first time in April, riding a three-match win streak dating back to April 5. So far this season, the RedHawks have combined for a 73-37 record in match play singles action while posting a 27-25 effort in doubles play. Miami’s underclassmen, freshman Andreea Badileanu and sophomore Ana Rajkovic both lead the team in wins with records of 14-4.
Western Michigan (13-9, 2-4 MAC) visits Oxford for the first time this season and is coming off a 6-1 win over Akron. The Broncos have posted a 78-54 record in singles action during match play this year while going 46-15 in doubles bouts.
Bowling Green (10-6, 4-2 MAC) will make the journey to Oxford on Saturday after facing Ball State at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Entering their weekend slate of MAC contests, the Falcons will try and protect their four-match win streak that dates back to April 4. In combined match and tournament action this season, the Falcons have generated a 93-97 record in singles action while posting a 46-41 mark in doubles competition.
Miami will host the MAC Women’s Tennis Tournament next weekend. Action begins at the Hepburn Varsity Tennis Courts at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 24 and will wrap up with the MAC Championship at noon on Sunday, April 26. The winner of the MAC Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
