CHANDLER, Ariz. - For the sixth consecutive year, the Miami University field hockey team has earned recognition by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for excellence in the classroom. Earning the organization's 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award honor, the 2013 MAC and tournament champion RedHawks continue to show that they can be successful both on the field and in the classroom.

The RedHawks were honored for achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Individual members of the team will be further recognized this week as the association announces the 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad on Wednesday and the 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction on Thursday.

The RedHawks finished 12-10, winning the MAC Tournament for the second straight season. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
