COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Miami University junior forward Austin Czarnik (Washington, Mich./Green Bay (USHL)) was named a finalist for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference’s Forward of the Year award, the league office announced on Thursday. The award winners are announced on March 20 at the NCHC Awards Celebration in Minneapolis.

Czarnik led the RedHawks with 43 points (11 goals, 32 assists) this season. His point total tied for the league lead while his 32 assists led all NCHC players and tie him for fourth most nationally. The Washington, Mich., native garnered first-team All-NCHC recognition on Wednesday. He led Miami with 12 multi-point games and notched at least one point in 23 of the 33 games he played in.

Czarnik joins Nebraska Omaha’s Josh Archibald and St. Cloud State’s Nic Dowd on the ballot.

The RedHawks open up the NCHC Tournament on Friday for game one of their best-of-three series at No. 4/4 St. Cloud State.
