CLEVELAND, Ohio—Miami University’s Jacob Prodoehl has been named as the Mid-American Conference Male Swimmer of the Week for the first time in his Miami career following a great performance in the RedHawks’ regular season finale on the road against Ball State University on Feb. 8. Miami was victorious in the dual meet, winning 135-93.
Prodoehl (Milwaukee, Wisc./Arrowhead High School), a sophomore, played a key role in the outcome with an individual win in the 100 freestyle and two wins in relays, contributing to 31 of Miami’s 135 total points.
In the 100 freestyle, he finished first with a time of 47.83. He teamed up with junior Sam Crockett, senior Sam Flessner and sophomore Sean Neri to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:34.19. Prodoehl also swam with junior Joe Baumgartner, freshman Grant Stafford and freshman Jack Strauss in the 200 freestyle relay, earning the win with a time of 1:26.07.
Prodoehl and the RedHawks are back in action Friday, Feb. 28, through Sunday, Mar. 2, at the Nixon Aquatic Center for the Ohio Senior Championships, starting at 9 a.m. The MAC Championships kick off Thursday, Mar. 6, and continue through Saturday, Mar. 8 with an 11 a.m. start time. The MAC Championships are hosted in Buffalo, N.Y.
