OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week senior men’s swimmer Jacob Prodoehl and senior softball pitcher Paige Myers are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of Feb. 3-9.
Prodoehl helped Miami to a pair of relay wins and an individual win as the RedHawks downed Ball State 135-93. Prodoehl was part of the 400 medley relay team that finished first with a time of 3:34 and the 200 freestyle relay team that also captured a victory with a time of 1:26.07. Finally, the sophomore recorded a time of 47.83 in the 100 freestyle to secure his final first-place finish.
This is the first time in Prodoehl’s career he has earned Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week honor.
Myers was on her game in leading the RedHawks to a pair of victories at the Music City Classic. She won both games she started, and also held Virginia Tech scoreless in 1.2 innings worth of relief. For the week she was 2-0 with a 0.66 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched. She allowed only six total hits and one earned run. Myers struck out nine batters in five innings against Detroit and finished with 13 strikeouts for the week.
This is the first time in Myers’ career she has earned Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week honor.
