OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week senior men’s basketball player Will Felder, junior men’s basketball player Will Sullivan and Collegiate synchronized skating team are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of Jan. 20-26.

Felder and Sullivan shared the Male Athlete of the Week award after they spearheaded Miami to two wins with an 86-80 triumph over Central Michigan last Wednesday and a 70-65 road win at Bowling Green on Saturday to extend the RedHawks’ win streak to three straight.

Felder led all players with 22 points and a career-high-tying 13 rebounds against the Chippewas and shot a scorching 76.9 percent from the field. He knocked down 10 field goals, to tie a career high. Despite playing 19 minutes at Bowling Green, Felder tallied 12 points, his seventh straight double figure scoring effort. He shot a strong 57.1 percent from the floor and 80.0 percent from the free throw-line against the Falcons. For the week, Felder averaged 17.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg and shot a sizzling 70.0 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line. He was named the MAC East Division Co-Player of the Week.

This is the fourth time this season and fifth time in his career that Felder has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week. He last received the honor for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5.

Sullivan notched his third 20-point effort of the season with 20 points against Central Michigan and tied a career-high with four assists. He shot 60. Percent from the field against the Chippewas and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. At Bowling Green, Sullivan tallied 16 points to lead the RedHawks, shooting 62.5 percent from the field and knocking down four 3-pointers. For the week, he averaged 18.0 ppg and shot 61.1 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from the free-throw line.

This is the first time this season and second time in his career that Sullivan has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week. He last received the honor for the week of Dec. 17-23, 2012.

Miami’s collegiate synchronized skating team receives the Female Athlete of the Week honor after their dominant performance at the Midwestern Championships, capturing their seventh win in seven appearances at the event. The RedHawks amassed a season-high score of 97.63 for their program themed “Moments.” The score was more than 20 points better than Miami’s nearest competitor. It also was nearly 20 points better than the RedHawks’ previous season-high score for their program.

This is the first time this season and fourth time overall that the Collegiate team has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week. They previously earned the honor for the week of Feb. 25-March 3, 2013.
