OXFORD, Ohio—Miami’s men’s swimming and diving team travels to Buffalo, N.Y. Saturday, Jan. 25, to take on the University at Buffalo in their first Mid-American Conference matchup of the season at 1 p.m.
The RedHawks look to make it three straight dual meet wins after defeating Cincinnati, 162-134, and Evansville, 171-112, over the last two weeks. For the RedHawks, this is their second MAC dual meet of the season after their win at Evansville and hold a 4-1 dual meet record thus far.
Miami is coming off a win over Evansville where the RedHawks won 11 of 16 events. Winners included freshman Grant Stafford, junior Joe Baumgartner, junior Sam Crockett, junior Andrew Kilkenny, sophomore Christopher Dieter, sophomore Jacob Prodoehl, freshman Matthew Rigali and sophomore Cole Fryman.
Miami is led by Stafford, who was announced as MAC Swimmer of the Week on Monday, following his two individual wins against Evansville on Saturday, Jan. 18. For Stafford, it was his first MAC Swimmer of the Week award of his Miami career, highlighting a great freshman campaign where he has registered at least one individual win in every competition this season.
Dieter and sophomore Evan Bader have also been key contributors as the season has progressed. Dieter has won an event in four of Miami’s six scored meets. Bader has been solid all season. He is the only other RedHawk this season to have received recognition as MAC Swimmer of the Week.
The Bulls enter Saturday’s meet with a 3-2 record in dual meets after defeating Michigan State, 176-124, and falling to Eastern Michigan, 105-152, on Saturday, Jan. 18. They also defeated Niagara, 116-104, the week before. Buffalo travels to face St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, Jan. 22, before hosting the RedHawks.
Last season, the RedHawks fell to the Bulls, 124-175, at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
