Senior forward/midfielder Katy Dolesh and senior midfielder Kayla Zakrzewski earned All-Great Lakes Regions honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Dolesh captured Second-Team All-Great Lakes Region honors, while Zakrzewski was named to the All-Great Lakes Region Third Team.
This is the second year Dolesh earned NSCAA Second-Team All-Region honors. Dolesh is a four-time All-MAC selection, earning first-team honors the last three years and second-team recognition as a freshman. A captain for the RedHawks, Dolesh tied for the team lead in goals with seven on the year to go along with two assists for 16 points. She tied for seventh among MAC leaders in goals.
This is Zakrzewski’s third all-region honor, earing first-team distinction as a junior in 2012 and third-team honors as a sophomore in 2011. Zakrzewski also is a four-time All-MAC selection, earning first-team distinction the last two years while being named to the second team her first two seasons at Miami. Zakrzewski was second on the team with 17 points on five goals, three of which were game winners, and a team-leading seven assists. She ties for third among MAC statistical leaders in assists, tied for 10th in points and tied for third in game-winning goals.
Dolesh was the only MAC player to land on the All-Great Lakes Region Second Team, while Zakrzewski was joined on the third team by Western Michigan’s Michelle Watson and Eastern Michigan’s Emily Dzik and Angela Vultaggio.
