OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University men’s golf head coach Zac Zedrick announced Tuesday the signing of Patrick Flavin to a National Letter of Intent. Flavin has decided to continue his golf career at Miami University beginning in the 2014-15 season.
"Patrick has not only achieved quite a bit at the highest levels of junior golf, but he also has a tremendous amount of untapped potential,” said Zedrick. “He's received excellent instruction over the past several years and has a lot of experience competing against the best juniors in the country.”
Flavin is a three-year letter winner for Highland Park High School in Highwood, Illinois. During the summer he placed second at the USGA Junior Boys Qualifier and third at the AJGA – AJGA Quad Cities.
Flavin averaged 72.5 in all tournament competitions his senior season and also won three tournaments, including the regional championship. He qualified for the state tournament both his junior and senior year.
Ending off Flavin’s senior season, his team qualified for the state tournament and won three 18-hole invitationals, the most in their team’s history. Flavin was team MVP and all-conference his junior and senior year, and was also all-state his final season.
“His love for Miami is strong, he has an incredible work ethic, and he believes in the direction this program is headed,” said Zedrick. “We're thrilled to have him joining us next fall."
