CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2013 MAC Field Hockey Tournament championship bracket on Monday. The Miami University field hockey team will be the third seed and will take on second seed Ohio on Friday at 2 p.m. The entire tournament will take place the Miami Field Hockey Complex in Oxford, Ohio.
The other semifinal game will feature number one seed Kent State taking on number four seed Central Michigan at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. The winners of both semifinal games will meet in the championship game on Saturday at 2 p.m. That game will be broadcast live on Miami All-Access.
Kent State is the top seed by virtue of winning the MAC regular season with a 4-1 record. Ohio, Miami and Central Michigan each finished at 3-2, but the Bobcats earned the second seed on a tiebreaker because they were the only team to defeat the Golden Flashes. The RedHawks defeated the Chippewas in double overtime last Saturday and earned the third seed.
The winner of the MAC Tournament earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament and will likely be placed in a play-in game on Wednesday, Nov. 13. The NCAA selection show is on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 10 p.m. airing on NCAA.com.
