OXFORD, Ohio – Less than two weeks after returning from a successful weekend at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Memphis, Tenn., the Miami University women’s tennis team heads back to the same site for the Memphis Invitational. The final tournament of the fall for the Red and White is set to begin on Friday morning and continues through Sunday. Play is split across six different singles draws and two doubles draws.
"I am looking forward to us competing in this last fall tournament,” said head coach Anca Dumitrescu. “We will face good opponents and it is just a great opportunity to improve our mental toughness and get better. We have had several opportunities in the last tournament to close off some key matches and at times we veered away from the game plan. We learned from that and hopefully we will face those moments again in this tournament and come through.”
Sophomore Ana Rajkovic faces Chattanooga’s Alison Storie on Friday at 12 p.m. in the Orange Draw. At the same time, sophomore Chloe Heerden battles Vanessa Foltinger of Marquette in the round-robin style Pink Draw.
Senior Christiana Raymond is set to start at 2:30 p.m. on Friday against Tulsa’s Isaura Enrique in the Blue Draw. In Black Draw action on Friday, freshman Andreea Badileanu faces Kelsey Coots from Chattanooga at 1 p.m. while junior Ramona Costea meets Lipscomb’s Viktoria Borck at 2:30 p.m. Junior Alix Thurman goes up against Memphis’ Anki Wind on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Gray Draw while Christine Guerrazzi rounds out the pack with a 4 p.m. match against Tulsa’s Rongrong Leenabanchong in the White Draw.
