OXFORD, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly volleyball awards on Monday. Senior libero Madison Hardy was named the MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week. It is the first weekly award of the season and the fifth time she has won the honor in her career.
Hardy had a record setting weekend as she finished with 61 digs in two matches for an incredible 6.78 digs per set average. She shattered her career high on Thursday with 39 digs against Eastern Michigan. That included 10 digs in the decisive fifth set. She was only six digs short of the all-time Miami match record, which was set during the non-rally scoring era. She followed that up by leading the ‘Hawks with another 22 digs against Central Michigan on Friday.
Miami hits the road to begin a four-match road trip next weekend. First up is a trip to Toledo on Friday, Oct. 25 for a 7 p.m. match.
