The Miami RedHawks men’s swimming and diving team begins their season this Saturday, Oct. 19, against Xavier at 2 p.m. in the Nixon Aquatic Center.

The RedHawks are looking to build on last season’s fourth-place finish in the MAC. Current sophomore Davis Staley and junior Joe Baumgartner qualified last season for the Mid-American Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The RedHawks were picked to finish fifth in the MAC this season by MAC coaches in the preseason swimming and diving polls.

Xavier, now a member of the Big East, has competed at the Butler Fall Invitational, against Louisville and the University of the Cumberlands. Xavier lost to Louisville last Friday, Oct. 11, but beat Cumberlands Saturday, Oct. 12. Xavier competes this Friday, Oct. 18, against Cincinnati. Xavier is coming off a season where they finished third at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Champioships. Miami beat Xavier last season, 150-109.
