CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly players of the week on Tuesday. Earning MAC Defensive Player of the Week is junior back Ali Froede. It is the second time this season and fourth time in her career that she has won a weekly award.
Froede led a Miami defense that held Ball State scoreless in the opener without many offensive chances. The majority of the game was spent outside the Ball State attacking circle and the Cardinals were held without a shot for the first 51 minutes of the contest. In fact they only had two total shots in the first 68:30 minutes of the game, getting three desperation attempts late. Froede also contributed offensively, taking three shots, two of which were on goal.
Earlier this season, Froede was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 4. She was previously named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 25, 2012 and MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 30, 2012.
Miami returns to action when it hosts Missouri State for a MAC game on Saturday at 10 a.m. Because of the football game later in the day, fans will need to park in the West Millett Lot, and there will be a charge for parking.
