OXFORD, Ohio – Following his outstanding performance at the All-Ohio Championship Friday, Oct. 4, senior Dave Wing has earned conference honors for the Miami University men’s cross country team. For the fourth time this season, Wing was named Mid-American Conference Men’s Runner of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

Wing (Naperville, Ill.) led the RedHawks for a fourth consecutive meet at the All-Ohio Championship, finishing second overall in 25:03.56. Hosted by Cedarville University at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course, Wing and the rest of the RedHawks faced a competitive 40-team field, finishing third overall behind Akron and Malone. Keeping his composure at the starting line against 288 runners, Wing immediately jumped out in front and crossed the finish line behind Cedarville’s Matt Brooker. Wing was the top finisher of Division 1 schools at the meet.

This is the fourth MAC Runner of the Week award Wing has received in his career as a RedHawk. He received his first conference honor this season after taking second at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge. He earned MAC honors again a week later after winning the 2013 Miami Invitational in 14:55.3. He was then tabbed MAC Runner of the Week for a third time this season after pacing the RedHawks at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational. He took 11th overall in a career-high 8K time of 24:17.21.

Wing and the rest of the RedHawks will return to action Saturday, Oct. 19 when they travel to Terre-Haute, Ind. for Pre-Nationals. The race will begin at 11 a.m.
