AKRON, Ohio- Miami University’s golf team returns to action Monday when they participate in the Firestone Invitational Tournament. Presented by FirstEnergy Solutions, the tournament will take place at the Firestone Country Club with a par -72, 7,125-yard. It will feature 36 holes on Monday and finish the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday.
"We've been to Firestone each of the past two years and it's one of the most well-known places in American golf. Our guys like the golf course and it's always a great test,” said coach Zac Zedrick.
Playing for the RedHawks at this week’s tournament will be sophomore Jack Sparling, juniors Scott Cahill and Luke Shaughnessy, and seniors Mark MacDonald and Austin Kelly. They are part of a 17-team field that includes College of Charleston, Davidson, Francis Marion, Georgetown Hoyas, Illinois State, Kansas State, Nebraska, University of Ohio, Old Dominion, Samford, St. Mary’s, USC-Aiken, Washington State, Western Kentucky, along with MAC school’s Eastern Michigan and Akron.
“We've been learning and building off of each tournament so far this fall and I anticipate us getting a little better again this week," said coach Zedrick.
