OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University tennis team will host the Miami Invitational this weekend. In addition to Miami, players from Bowling Green, Xavier and Louisville will compete against each other in the tournament. Action kicks off Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and continues through Sunday.
“The expectation is always that we will go out and compete well,” said Head Coach Anca Dumitrescu. “We need to take care of the things we can control and play hard. It will be a great experience hosting these schools and our players just need to go out and compete for points against them.”
Miami enters the weekend coming off a strong showing at the Ball State Invitational. Senior Christiana Raymond, freshman Andreea Badileanu, junior Christine Guerazzi and freshman Chloe Heerden won their singles flights in the team’s first tournament of the season. Guerazzi won her singles final by defeating her teammate, junior Ramona Costea.
In doubles play at Ball State, sophomore Ana Rajkovic and Guerazzi lost their first doubles match on Friday afternoon before winning three consecutive matches throughout the rest of the weekend to capture the doubles flight A consolation bracket.
The Miami Invitational is the RedHawks’ only home tournament of the fall and will take place all day Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. each morning. Admission to Miami tennis is free.
