Football

Last Week: The Miami football team dropped a 14-0 decision versus Cincinnati in the 118th meeting between the two schools. (Recap) Despite the loss, Dayonne Nunley was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week, while Zac Murphy earned MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week honors. (Release) Nunley recorded 10 tackles, three pass breakups and an interception, while Murphy averaged over 52 yards per punt, including an 84-yard blast that established a new Miami and Yager Stadium record. This Week: Miami will face Illinois on Saturday at noon (ET) in the final non-conference game of the season. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network. (Preview)

Volleyball

Last Week: Miami had a tough weekend, dropping all three matches at the Wildcat Intercollegiate to complete non-conference play at 8-4. For the first time this season, the RedHawks dropped a tournament match when they fell to IUPUI, 1-3 (25-23, 22-25, 17-25, 22-25), on Friday. (Recap) Miami dropped a tough 0-3 (22-25, 19-25, 15-25) decision to Northwestern Friday evening. (Recap) In a hard-fought battle, the team dropped a 1-3 (15-25, 24-26, 25-20, 17-25) match to the University of South Florida to complete play at the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday. (Recap) This Week: The RedHawks begin Mid-American Conference play at home with a pair of key matches. Miami hosts defending MAC Tournament champion Bowling Green on Thursday at 7 p.m. The ‘Hawks then take on defending MAC West Division champion Western Michigan Saturday at 5 p.m. Both matches can be seen live on Miami All-Access.

Soccer

Last Week: For the fourth-straight game, Miami’s women’s soccer team was edged by just one goal, this time by a 1-0 score at Marshall on Sunday afternoon. The RedHawks surrendered a goal in the 24th minute and couldn’t get the offense going on the field turf at the Thundering Herd’s new soccer complex. (Recap) This Week: Miami begins defense of its MAC title when it travels to Akron on Friday and Buffalo on Sunday.

Women’s Cross Country

Last Week: For a third consecutive week, junior Jess Hoover led the Miami University women’s cross country team at the Wake Forest Invitational on Friday. Hoover and the rest of the RedHawks finished third overall at Ivey Redmon Complex at Beeson Park after competing against a field of Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams and Mid-American Conference (MAC) rival Ohio. (Recap) This Week: The team is off this week and will return to action at the All-Ohio Championships on Oct. 4.

Men’s Cross Country

Last Week: The Miami men’s cross country did not run last week, however for the third consecutive week, senior Dave Wing was named Mid-American Conference Men’s Runner of the Week for his performance at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 14 (Release) This Week: The team remains off this week and will return to action at the All-Ohio Championships on Oct. 4.

Field Hockey

Last Week: The Miami University field hockey team recorded a 4-2 victory over a tough Ohio State squad in its home opener on Wednesday, its only action of the week. (Recap) (Photo Gallery) This Week: The RedHawks have a busy week with three games scheduled. Miami hosts UC Davis on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Red and White then head to Bloomington, Ind. for a pair of contests. Miami will take on host Indiana Friday at 3 p.m. The RedHawks conclude the week with a neutral-site contest against 12th-ranked Penn State on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Golf

Last Week: Miami finished sixth at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate with a score of 50-over par. Senior Mark MacDonald was the top RedHawk finisher at nine-over par, tying for 16th (Day 1 Recap) (Day 2 Recap) This Week: The team is off this week and will return to action with the Firestone Invitational, Oct. 7-8.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving

Last Week: The Miami men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed last week in a pair of exhibition meets. Both teams held the annual Red & White Intrasquad meet, with the women honoring former head coach Dave Jennings after the completion of the event. This Week: The women will return to action on Oct. 18 when they host Purdue, while the men’s next meet will be on Oct. 19 when they host Xavier.

Women’s Tennis

Last Week: In its first fall tournament, Miami got off to a strong start at the Ball State Invitational. Senior Christiana Raymond, freshman Andreea Badileanu, Junior Christine Guerrazzi and sophomore Chloe Heerden each won their flights over the weekend. (Recap) This Week: Miami hosts the Miami Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament begins in the morning and runs throughout the day.

The Miami hockey team was picked to finish first in the first-ever NCHC media poll with 115 points. They also came away with a league-high seven first-place votes. Miami will open the season on Oct. 5 in an exhibition game versus Windsor, starting at 8 p.m. (Media Poll)

Softball continues fall exhibition play with a pair of games on Sunday. The RedHawks will take on Shawnee State at 11 a.m. and Cleveland State at 3 p.m.
