CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its first weekly players of the week on Wednesday. Earning MAC Defensive Player of the Week is junior back Ali Froede. It is the third career weekly award for Froede.

Froede led a Miami defense that held 18th-ranked Wake Forest in check the majority of the game, only taking the lead for the first time with five minutes to go. She helped the RedHawks hold Radford to only one shot the entire game, and also kept Longwood off the board for the first 62 minutes of their third contest in four days, as Miami outscored its final two opponents a combined 10-2. Froede also contributed a goal and an assist in the win over Radford.

Froede was previously named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 25, 2012 and MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 30, 2012.

Miami will have another challenge next weekend when it heads to Evanston, Ill., for a pair of contests against ranked teams. The RedHawks will take on 16th-ranked Boston University in a neutral site game on Sunday at 1 p.m. (EDT). Miami then faces off against the host, 11th-ranked Northwestern, on Monday at 1 p.m. (EDT).
