Miami University head football coach Don Treadwell has announced that Austin Boucher, Austin Brown, Steve Marck and Wes Williams will serve as captains during the 2013 season. The captains were selected by a vote of their teammates.
Boucher is expected to open the season as the team’s starting quarterback when the RedHawks take the field versus Marshall on Aug. 31. The fifth-year senior has thrown for 1,278 yards and seven touchdowns in his career and is 4-0 as a starter for the Red and White.
Brown, also a fifth-year senior, had 53 tackles and 10 tackles for loss during Miami’s MAC Championship game in 2010, but has suffered through injuries each of the past two seasons. Brown is expected to start at defensive tackle next week.
Marck, a native of Newtown, Pa., has 35 receptions for 380 yards and a touchdown in his career, with 27 of those grabs coming during the 2012 season.
Williams has 99 tackles and 11 tackles for loss in his career, seeing a majority of his playing time at defensive end. Last season, he set career-highs for tackles (65) and tackles for loss (6). His top performance in 2012 came versus Kent State in which he had eight stops and a sack against the Golden Flashes.
