OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University women’s basketball coach Cleve Wright announced the 2013 non-conference schedule on Thursday. The schedule features five home games and seven contests against teams that played in the postseason last year.

The season begins on Nov. 8 when the RedHawks welcome Eastern Kentucky to Millett Hall for the home opener. Miami follows it up with its first road game of the season, a trip to Wright State on Nov. 12. Home games against Chicago State (Nov. 16) and Duquesne (Nov. 26) are sandwiched between a game at University of Illinois-Chicago (Nov. 23) to wrap up the month of November.

The month of December begins with a tough challenge as Florida State visits Oxford for the first time on Dec. 1. Last season, the Seminoles advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to top-seeded Baylor.

A four-game road trip awaits the RedHawks as they head to Youngstown State on Dec. 4 and Northern Kentucky on Dec. 7. After taking a week off for finals, Miami heads to the Sunshine State of California for a pair of contests, taking on Long Beach State on Dec. 17 and San Diego State on Dec. 19. The Red and White will conclude non-conference play with a home game against Cleveland State on Dec. 29.

"We are excited about the start of 2013-14 basketball season,” said Wright. “Our non-conference schedule will prepare us well for the rigorous MAC regular season, while the trip to California will provide two quality opponents and of course the beautiful weather."

The Mid-American Conference schedule will be announced later in August. It will feature a new format as teams will play 18 league games for the first time since the 1997-98 season.
