OXFORD, Ohio – Miami’s Sports Marketing Department provides an opportunity for students to become members of the Miami Sports Marketing Sales Academy.  Students have the opportunity to work as sales-terns for hands-on experience selling Miami Football and Men’s Basketball tickets to local fans and alumni.

Students go through a competitive process, which includes a phone interview and sales boot-camp prior to being hired. Throughout the academic year, these 'team members' assist the marketing staff with sales and in-office projects.

“We are encouraged by the talents and the revenue generated by these Miami students,” states Anthony J. Azama, Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Sales & Licensing.

My favorite Miami Athletic moment so far is from the family weekend football game last October when the football team played against Ohio University. Ohio University was ranked in the Top 25, and we beat them in the last few seconds of the game.  At the summer orientation of that year, I sold the Family Foursome ticket package as part of my duties with the internship.  During part of the game, I stood in the end zone and looked at the people in the stands.  I realized how great of an impact I had on the attendance at the game and with the fans in helping them come out to enjoy a great football game and have a great experience with friends and family.
