OXFORD, Ohio -- Each summer, the Miami Sports Marketing Department provides an opportunity for students gain valuable experience through sales internships. Students work as sales-terns to gain hands-on experience selling Miami Football at Summer Orientation to the incoming families. The Sales Team has now completed ten of the sixteen sessions of Orientation and took a moment to reflect on their favorite things about Orientation.
Meghan Styczynski, sophomore from Cincinnati, was a sales intern last summer. As she thinks about this year, she says “Orientation is exciting because I get to meet lots of parents and students, and eventually I’ll see the students around campus.” Senior Allie Larrabee, a softball student-athlete loves the challenge and states, “It's been great! I love talking to people from different parts of the country and making that connection with them. Being at Orientation really forces you to go the extra mile to make sure that you leave people with a great impression of Miami, because we're usually the last people that talk to the parents and students before they leave. “
Eric Woll, a senior from Mason, reflects “My experience at orientation has been awesome! I love meeting the incoming freshman and hearing how excited they are to come to Miami. I will admit though that it is a little bittersweet because I know the incoming freshman will love their next four years, but I am also jealous because I am entering my last year of one of the greatest chapters of my life.”
Alex Moormeier was a student-worker in the Ticket Office last summer and was able to volunteer a few times at Orientation, so when this opportunity came about for this summer he jumped on it. Both Alex and Josh Schiets agree their experience at Orientation has been great so far. "It's a lot of fun interacting with the incoming freshman and their parents and seeing the excitement they have about coming to Miami," Schiets said.
With six sessions remaining in Incoming Student Orientation this month, the sales team is striving to reach their goals for the Family Weekend ticket packages.
