OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami plays its final midweek and non-conference games of the season this week when it faces local rival Cincinnati in a home-and home series. The teams meet at Marge Schott Stadium in Cincinnati on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.) before heading to Oxford the next day (6 p.m.).

Miami (20-22) dropped a three-game series at Northern Illinois over the weekend, rebounding on Sunday 6-4 after falling 3-1 and 4-3 in the first two contests.A week ago, the RedHawks split a pair against Dayton with each team winning at home.

Cincinnati stands 18-25 overall after a three-game sweep at the hands of Pittsburgh. The Bearcats have also lost four of their last five outings.

The team batting lead has rotated among three players the last few weeks with freshman Jake Romano currently topping the charts. He is hitting .353 with 24 hits in 20 games. Junior John Crummy stands second overall at .345, while sophomore Matt Honchel ranks third at .328.

They are the only three RedHawks who are sitting above the .300 mark.

Alex Johnson, who is 14-for-35 (.400) with eight extra-base hits over the last 10 games, leads the club in home runs (three) and runs batted in (31).
Miami’s pitching lineup will be the same as last week’s non-confernece games.

Sophomore left-hander Brian Thene will start on Tuesday, while sophomore righty Nathan Williams opens on Wednesday.
