OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami continues its five-match homestand this weekend when MAC rivals Buffalo and Akron come to Oxford. The action starts Friday and Saturday, respectively, at 1 p.m. at the Hepburn Courts.

The RedHawks (4-12, 0-1) are coming off a 4-3 loss to Ball State last week, their first defeat in MAC play in 34 matches, dating back to 2008. They dropped the doubles point before splitting six singles points. Nimisha Mohan has the team lead with 17 wins in 26 matches this year, while Alix Thurman is second with a 16-10 overall record.

Buffalo is undefeated in 10 dual matches this year, including a victory over Northern Illinois in its league opener last weekend. The Bulls are paced by Miranda Podlas, who is 14-1 overall this year including 9-0 at No. 2, and Tanvi Shah, who is 9-1 at the No. 1 position this spring. Together, they have teamed for an overall mark of 13-2 in doubles, 10-0 in the top flight. The Bulls were picked sixth in the MAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Akron (13-6, 1-0) brings a six-match winning streak into a Friday contest at Ball State. The Zips have won the last two MAC Tournament Championships and are the preseason favorites to win the league.
