Fresh off a home sweep of Eastern Michigan, Miami takes to the road for the first time in Mid-American Conference play when it travels to Toledo. Games are set for 3 p.m. on Friday and at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The games will take place at Mercy Field due to field conditions on the UT campus.

Miami (10-10, 3-0) snapped a three-game losing streak in impressive fashion, pounding out 41 hits and a .387 batting average in 4-0, 13-6 and 6-4 wins over the Eagles. The RedHawks were supposed to play a mid-week game against Xavier, but the game was postponed because of field conditions after a Monday snowstorm.

Freshman Jake Romano leads the team in hitting with a .381 average in six appearances. MAC East Player of the Week selection Ryan Elble now stands second at .364 following a .550 stretch over the last five games, while Matt Honchel is the top regular with a .349 average. John Crummy also stands above .300 at .306.

Alex Johnson and Matt Packer are tied for the team lead in home runs with two, while Johnson has a team-best 16 runs batted it.

For the sixth straight weekend, Miami will send a trio of right-handers to the mound.

Senior Brooks Fiala will open on Friday. He is 3-2 with a 2.51 ERA and has not allowed a run in 25.2 innings, throwing back-to-back complete-game shutouts. He is ranked 20th nationally -- first in the MAC -- with 46 strikeouts.

Senior Mac Thoreson is Saturday’s starter. He picked up his first win in four decisions last week, lowering his ERA to 7.36.

Sophomore Nathan Williams rounds out the starters, throwing the series finale. He is 2-1 with a 4.23 ERA after six solid innings against the Eagles.
