LAKE WORTH, Fla. – The Miami University golf team begins a busy stretch of four straight weekends of tournaments when it heads south to participate in the FAU Spring Break Classic Friday through Sunday. The RedHawks will play one round of 18 holes each day at the Fountains Country Club.
"We always enjoy coming down to the Miami area,” said head coach Zac Zedrick. “FAU runs a fantastic event on a good golf course that the boys really like. Although winter has stuck around since we returned from Pinehurst, that hasn't held us back for preparing well for this tournament. I think if we can make the adjustment to Bermuda grass during the practice round and make it a point of competing better than anyone else there, then we'll be fine."
Representing Miami at the FAU Spring Break Classic will be senior Brett Tomfohrde, junior Austin Kelly, sophomores Scott Cahill and Luke Shaughnessy and freshman Bud Radis. For Radis, it will be his first career collegiate tournament.
Mid-American Conference rival Northern Illinois will join the RedHawks as part of the 16-team field. In addition to host FAU, also competing will be Bethune Cookman, Connecticut, DePaul, Florida Gulf Coast, Hartford, Jacksonville State, Lafayette, Loyola (Chi.), McNeese State, Morehead State, Murray State, Stetson and UCF.
