Ice Hockey

Last week: The top-seeded RedHawks (24-11-5) fell in the CCHA Semifinals to seventh-seeded Michigan, 6-2, Saturday afternoon in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena. Austin Czarnik tallied assists on both of Miami’s goals, which were scored by senior forward Curtis McKenzie and freshman forward Sean Kuraly (FULL STORY). Additionally, MU captured three of the league’s top awards on Friday night at the CCHA Awards Show held at the historic Fox Theater in Detroit (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks make their eighth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, as they were awarded a No. 2 seed in the Midwest Regional in Toledo, Ohio and will face third-seeded Minnesota State in the first round Saturday, March 30. Game time is 5 p.m. at the Huntington Center (FULL STORY).


Women’s Basketball

Last week: The RedHawks ended their season with a loss to Illinois in the first round of the Postseason WNIT on Thursday in Champaign, Ill. Senior point guard Courtney Osborn scored a team-high 19 points in the 73-60 defeat, while senior forward Kirsten Olowinski tallied eight points and 14 rebounds (FULL STORY). Miami finished the 2012-13 season with a 19-13 overall record.



Last week: The RedHawks dropped a home-and-away set to Indiana on Tuesday and Wednesday, but responded with three straight home wins against Eastern Michigan over the weekend. Miami improved its overall record to 10-10 and 3-0 in the MAC. For results, stats and recaps, click HERE. This week: The RedHawks host Xavier on Tuesday at 6 p.m., before traveling to play a three-game series against Toledo Friday, March 29 through Sunday, March 31. Friday’s game begins at 3 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday’s contests both start at 1 p.m.



Last week: The RedHawks (4-18) had the week off after competing in the San Diego Classic Thursday, March 14 through Saturday, March 16. This week: Miami hosts its first home series of the season on Tuesday, March 26, as it plays a doubleheader against Morehead State. The first game starts at 2 p.m., while the later game begins at 4 p.m. The 'Hawks then begin MAC play on the road Friday through Sunday. MU plays a doubleheader against Toledo on Friday, before traveling to play a two-game set against Bowling Green on Saturday and Sunday.



Last week: The RedHawks (4-12, 0-1 MAC) dropped a 4-3 decision in its conference opener to Ball State on Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton. Miami had its 33-match win streak in MAC regular-season play snapped that dated back to April 12, 2008 (FULL STORY). This week: Miami returns to the courts next weekend to continue a five-match home stretch when it hosts Buffalo on Friday, March 29 and Akron on Saturday, March 30. Both contests are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.


Women’s Track & Field

Last week: The RedHawks capped off the Black and Gold Invitational in strong fashion Saturday at Vanderbilt University's track and field complex. Several RedHawks posted personal bests while three also cracked Miami’s all-time top-10 lists. Miami dominated the 3000m run, placing three in the top nine, including sophomore Anna Lamb (Granville, Ohio), who won the race while smashing her personal best in 9:48.48, which ranks her sixth in school history (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks take part in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, hosted by the University of Cincinnati, Friday and Saturday, March 29-30, just an hour down the road from Oxford.


Men’s Track & Field

Last week: The RedHawks opened its 2013 outdoor season by winning two events on day two of the Black and Gold Invitational Saturday, held at Vanderbilt University’s track and field complex. Freshman Peter Stefanski (Aurora, Ill.), competing unattached, won the high jump with a clearance of 2.09m/6-10.25, matching his personal best (FULL STORY). This week: Miami stays closer to home next weekend, as the RedHawks take part in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, hosted by the University of Cincinnati, Friday and Saturday, March 29-30, just an hour down the road from Oxford. 



Last week: Miami had a week off after competing in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate Sunday, March 10 through Tuesday, March 12 in Pinehurst, N.C. This week: The RedHawks travel to Lake Worth Florida for the FAU Spring Break Classic Friday, March 29 through Sunday, March 31.
