CLEVELAND, Ohio - Miami University swimming standout JOE BAUMGARTNER has been honored by the Mid-American Conference as its Swimmer of the Week, the MAC announced Wednesday.

The sophomore student-athlete from St. Louis, Mo., who swam at Lindbergh High School, is the first RedHawk men's swimmer to earn the honor since Brendan Melling in 2011-12.

Baumgartner had first-place finishes in each of the three races he swam Saturday in Miami's 149-118 victory over Ball State. The sophomore from St. Louis, Mo. recorded a winning time of 21.32 in the 50 freestyle, then followed that up with a victory in the 100 free (47.01). Baumgartner was also a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that touched first (1:26.20).

Miami finished the dual meet portion of its season with a 4-4-1 overall mark, 2-2 in MAC duals.

The next competition for Coach Pete Lindsay's RedHawks is Mar. 7-9 in Carbondale, Ill. at the MAC Championships.
