Listed below is a recap of last week's results as well as a look ahead at this week's games. Enjoy!


Last week: The third-ranked RedHawks extended their win streak to five games with a sweep of No. 20 Alaska. Austin Czarnik scored two goals in Friday's 4-1 win over the Nanooks (FULL STORY), while Riley Barber and Kevin Morris both netted two goals in Saturday's 6-2 victory (FULL STORY). Miami took over first place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and improved to 17-6-5 overall and 12-4-4-4 in the conference. This week: The 'Hawks hit the road for a two-game series at second-place Western Michigan Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9. Puck drop is 7:05 p.m. both nights.

Men's Basketball

Last week: The RedHawks (8-12, 3-5 MAC) were edged by Western Michigan at home, 72-68, on Wednesday (FULL STORY), but responded with a road win at Central Michigan on Saturday (FULL STORY). Miami's victory over the Chippewas marked its 600th Mid-American Conference triumph, the most by any MAC program, and snapped a four-game losing skid. Allen Roberts led MU with 19 points in Mount Pleasant. This week: Miami continues a two-game road stretch at Toledo on Wednesday, then returns home to host Akron at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader against the Zips. It will be Hall of Fame Day where Miami Athletics will honor its six inductees -- Dale Cohen (women's tennis), Terry Hoeppner (football coach), PL (Pete) Miller (men's track & field), Ben Roethlisberger (football), Karin Sherr (synchronized skating) and Kyle Voska (golf) -- at halftime of the men's game.

Women's Basketball

Last week: The RedHawks fell to Buffalo, 78-70, on Thursday (FULL STORY), but bounced back on Sunday with a 65-51 road victory over Northern Illinois (FULL STORY). In the win, Courtney Osborn scored a team-high 25 points, helping MU improve to 14-7 overall and 6-2 in the MAC. The 'Hawks have now won six of their last seven games. This week: MU plays five of its next six games at Millett Hall. The run starts on Wednesday when the RedHawks host current MAC regular season leader Toledo at 7 p.m. Miami then hosts Akron Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Women's Swimming & Diving

Last week: Miami's senior swimmers celebrated Senior Day Saturday afternoon with a 175-104 victory over Ball State (FULL STORY). The RedHawks improved their flawless Mid-American Conference record to 5-0 this season and 10-1 overall. This week: The RedHawks travel to Athens, Ohio on Saturday in hopes of completing their perfect conference season. Following the regular season, Miami travels to Buffalo from Feb. 28-March 2 for the MAC Championships.

Men's Swimming & Diving

Last week: Sophomore sprint freestyler Joe Baumgartner swam to a first-place time of 45.97 in the 100 free, but it wasn't enough as host Eastern Michigan topped Miami by a score of 184-110 Saturday afternoon (FULL STORY). It was EMU's 63rd consecutive victory in MAC dual meets. This week: Coach Pete Lindsay's RedHawk team hosts Ball State at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Nixon Aquatic Center. It will be Senior Day.


Last week: The RedHawks dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision to Eastern Kentucky on Saturday (FULL STORY) and split a doubleheader on Sunday. Miami defeated California (Pa.) 6-1 in the morning session and lost to Xavier 4-3 in the afternoon (FULL STORY). All three matches were played at the Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton, Ohio. This week: MU travels to Huntington, W. Va., to face Marshall at 11 a.m on Sunday.

Women's Track & Field

Last week: Behind one event win and five top-five finishes on the track, including several personal-best times, the Miami track and field team finished strong Saturday on the second and final day of the Akron Invitational. Redshirt senior Alexandra Roberts (Hilliard, Ohio) won the gold division (top tier) shot put with a heave of 14.67m/48-1.75, which is the ninth-best throw in school history, eight of which Roberts own. (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks return to action next weekend Friday Feb. 8 through Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Hoosier Hills Invitational, hosted by Indiana University at Gladstein Fieldhouse, as Miami makes a second trip to Bloomington, Ind. this season.
