CLEVELAND -The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly awards for women's basketball on Monday. Senior guard Courtney Osborn was named Co-MAC East Division Player of the Week after a vote by the women's basketball coaches. She shared the award with Alexis Rogers of Bowling Green. It is the second time this season and sixth time in her career that Osborn has won this award.
Osborn had a fantastic performance at the Caribbean Classic in Mexico averaging 20.0 points and 5.5 assists in the two games. For the fifth time in her career, she had a 30-or-more point performance with 30 points against Nevada. In that game she was 11-for-15 from the field, including 5-for-7 from three point range. Osborn had three steals and five assists in the win against the Wolfpack. She was also solid in the opener against a very good Creighton team , finishing with 10 points and six assists.
This is the fourth time a Miami player has been named MAC East Division Player of the Week this season. Osborn earned the award on Nov. 12, while Kirsten Olowinski earned it on back-to-back weeks, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.
The RedHawks will be off for the next two weeks during the holiday season. Miami returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 5 when it travels to Duquesne for its final non-conference contest before Mid-American Conference play begins.
