Listed below is a recap of last week's results as well as a look ahead at this week's games. Enjoy!


Last week: The top-seeded RedHawks claimed their first MAC Tournament title since 2002, defeating second-seeded Central Michigan 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Miami Soccer Field. Freshman forward Haley Walter and sophomore forward Hailey Pleshakov scored the team's goals in the hard-fought victory (FULL STORY & PHOTOS). This week: Miami advances to the NCAA Tournament. The team finds out its next opponent today at 4:30 p.m. when the regional brackets are announced.

Field Hockey

Last week: Sarah Mueller came up big in goal with eight saves, including several late as the Miami University field hockey team defeated Kent State, 2-1, Saturday afternoon to earn the Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship. It is the first tournament championship in school history (FULL STORY & PHOTOS). This week: As MAC Tournament Champions, the RedHawks will now advance to take on Stanford, which defeated Liberty 3-0 for the NorPac Tournament title on Saturday, for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NorPac champion has the right to host the match, but the Cardinal have agreed to play it at Longwood University in Farmville, Va., where they just concluded the NorPac Tournament. The game will take place Tuesday, Nov. 6 at a 1 p.m.

Ice Hockey

Last week: The 4th-ranked RedHawks (4-2-2, 3-1-0-0 CCHA) split a pair of road games against No. 19 Ferris State University over the weekend. On Friday, Miami was shut out 3-0 (RECAP), but the team responded with an impressive 4-2 win on Saturday. Austin Czarnik led the way, scoring two goals in the win (FULL STORY). This week: Miami returns home to play a pair of games against Northern Michigan Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10 at Steve Cady Arena at the Goggin Ice Center. Friday's game is scheduled to start at 7:35 p.m., while Saturday's will begin at 7:05 p.m.

Men's Basketball

Last week: The RedHawks defeated Maryville 73-64 in their only exhibition game of the 2012-13 season Wednesday night. Junior forward Will Felder led the RedHawks in scoring with 15 points and added a game-high nine rebounds. He finished 6-of-12 from the field (FULL STORY). This week: Miami opens the regular season against No. 6 NC State Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.

Women's Basketball

Last week: The Miami University women's basketball team got its season off to a successful start with an 80-70 exhibition win over Tiffin on Sunday afternoon (FULL STORY). It was the only scheduled exhibition for the RedHawks this season. Senior guard Courtney Osborn looked to be in midseason form as she recorded a double-double with 20 points and 13 assists. The 13 assists would have tied a school single-game record that she already shares with Carrie Kent and D'Nelle Seiple. This week: Miami will open the regular season on the road when it heads to Eastern Kentucky on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. tilt.


Last week: Senior Zac Dysert became Miami's all-time leading passer, but Patrick Clarke's 47-yard field goal on the final play of the game lifted Buffalo to a 27-24 victory over Miami Saturday afternoon at UB Stadium (FULL STORY). Clarke's kick, with a stiff wind behind him, was set up by Devin Campbell's 47-yard kickoff return to the RedHawks' 35 just two plays earlier. This week: The RedHawks (4-5, 3-2 MAC) return home to host Kent State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.


Last week: The RedHawks dropped a pair of home games against Akron and Buffalo over the weekend. MU lost to the Zips 3-0 Friday (FULL STORY) and fell to the Bulls 3-0 Saturday (FULL STORY). This week: Miami closes out the regular season with games against Bowling Green Thursday, Nov. 8 at home and on the road vs. Western Michigan Saturday, Nov. 10. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

Men's & Women's Cross Country

This week: After a week off, both the men's and women's cross country teams travel to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship Friday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.

Women's Swimming & Diving

Last week: The RedHawks cruised to a 173-113 victory over the Bowling Green Falcons Friday evening at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center (FULL STORY). Impressive performances from freshman Aubrey Kluth, sophomore Courtney Collett, and from a handful of seniors improved the team's record to 3-1. This week: Miami will compete in its second away meet of the season Friday, Nov. 9 against Kenyon in Gambler, Ohio. The start time is 5:30 p.m.

Men's Swimming & Diving

Last week: Miami University's men's swimming team repeated the 150-150 tie it had two seasons ago against Cleveland State when the teams raced to another draw Saturday afternoon at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center (FULL STORY). Key victories from freshman Chris Dieter, junior Michael Cavanaugh, and senior Anderson Whipp helped the RedHawks to the tie, improving their season record to 3-1-1.This week: Miami will compete in it second away meet of the season Friday, Nov. 9 against Kenyon in Gambler, Ohio. The start time is 5:30 p.m.


Last week: The Miami University men's golf team shot a final round score of 10-over par 294 on Tuesday to finish the Georgetown Intercollegiate in 10th place at 38-over par (FULL STORY). Toledo won the tournament with a score of 11-over par. Coming up: The Georgetown Intercollegiate was the final tournament for the RedHawks this fall. The 2012-13 season resumes Feb. 11-12 when Miami travels to Dade City, Fla. for the second annual Mid-American Match Play.

Synchronized Skating

Last week: All three Miami University synchronized skating teams publicly unveiled their 2012-13 competitive programs on Saturday afternoon at Steve Cady Arena at the Goggin Ice Center. It was the first time the RedHawks have showcased their programs this season (PHOTOS). Coming up: The RedHawks open their 2012-13 competitive seasons Dec. 1-2 at the Dr. Richard Porter Classic.


This week HawkTawk will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Kroger. All fans and students are welcome to attend.
