CLEVELAND - The Mid America Conference announced its weekly field hockey awards on Tuesday. Earning MAC Offensive Player of the Week for Miami was junior midfielder Ali Froede. It is the second time this season that she has won a MAC weekly award. She was previously named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 25.

Froede scored the game-tying goal against Ohio on Saturday on a penalty corner. She also helped set up the game winning goal which was also on a penalty corner. Froede led the Miami offensive attack in a game that led to the RedHawks winning the MAC regular season title. As a result of her performance, she was named to Synapse Sports Honor Roll Team, the only player from the MAC to be honored this week.

This is the fourth straight week that a Miami player has won a MAC award. On Oct. 9, Sarah Mueller was named Defensive Player of the Week. Alyssa Logan took Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 16. Last week, Mueller was again the Defensive Player of the Week. RedHawks have won a total of eight weekly MAC honors this season.

The RedHawks will be the number one seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament that they will host next weekend in Oxford, Ohio. On Friday, Nov. 2, Miami will have a rematch with fourth seed Ohio in the first semifinal at noon. The second seed Kent State and third seed Central Michigan will face each other in the second semifinal at 2:30 p.m. The MAC Championship will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. between the winners of the two semifinals. The winner of the MAC Tournament will travel to the winner of the Nor PAC Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 6 for a play-in game to earn an automatic spot in the NCAA Tournament.
