Every week for the rest of the 2012-13 school year, I'll be honoring Miami University's top athletes in a blog post titled "High Marx", which recognizes them for outstanding performances. Enjoy!

• Sophomore Austin Czarnik was key in Miami's tie and win against Providence over the weekend, as he totaled two goals and dished out two assists for a four-point weekend. He had a hand in four of Miami's five goals on the weekend. In Friday's 1-1 overtime tie, he had the primary assist on the game-tying goal in the second period. In Saturday's 4-3 overtime win, he scored two goals, including the overtime game-winner 3:35 into the extra session, and had an assist for a career-high-tying three points, his fifth time doing so. The two goals also tied a career high, just his second career multi-goal game. Czarnik also scored in the unofficial shootout Friday, which Miami won.

• Freshman Haley Walter led Miami to a 1-0 double-overtime victory over Central Michigan last Friday on the road. She scored the game's only goal just 30 seconds into the second extra session, clinching the MAC regular-season title for the RedHawks. It was Miami's first win against CMU since 2007 and snapped the Chippewas' 38-game home unbeaten streak dating back to 2008. She now has a MAC-best five game-winning goals this year.

• Junior Kayla Zakrzewski assisted on the game-winning goal in Miami's 3-1 win over Bowling Green on Sunday. It was her 10th assist of the season, breaking Miami's single-season assists record of nine, held by three people, last set in 2009. She leads the MAC and ties for eighth nationally with her 10 helpers.
