BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Miami University volleyball team has a split week with one road match followed by a return to Millett Hall. On Thursday, the RedHawks will travel to Bowling Green to take on the Falcons at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Miami will host Northern Illinois at 5 p.m. as part of the school's Title IX celebration weekend. remembering title ix: Prior to Saturday's match, the volleyball team will attend a special luncheon at the Marcum Conference Center from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. that celebrates the 40th anniversary of Title IX and will feature several Miami legends reflecting on how it has affected women's sports, particularly at this school. SHARING THE OFFENSIVE LOAD: While sophomore Meg Riley holds the team lead with 213 kills, several other RedHawks are contributing to help create a balanced offense. Junior Madison Dodd has 120 kills, while senior Christina Menche has patrolled the middle with 98 kills. Freshman Sarah Chaney and senior Lisa Treadway are right behind with 94 and 87 kills respectively.

UP NEXT: It's back on the road as Miami heads north to the state of Michigan for a pair of matches. On Thursday, Oct. 11, the RedHawks will be in Mt. Pleasant to take on Central Michigan at 7 p.m. They will then head to Ypsilanti to face Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

ABOUT BOWLING GREEN: With a new coach this season in Danijela Tomic, the Falcons are on top of the MAC with a 4-0 record. They are the only remaining league team without loss and are 8-7 overall. Last weekend, Bowling Green defeated Akron in straight sets on Friday, before heading to Buffalo and earning a 3-1 victory on Saturday. The Falcons, which returned all by two letterwinners from last season's 19-12 team, are led offensively by junior outside hitter Paige Penrod. She has 220 kills, an average of 4.07 per set. They have a strong setter in junior Lauren Avila. She averages 10.50 assists per set.

THE SERIES AGAINST THE FALCONS: Miami holds a 43-24 lead in the all-time series with Bowling Green. The teams split their two meetings last season, each winning at home. On Oct. 6, 2011 in Bowling Green, the RedHawks and Falcons went back-and-forth for two hours and 30 minutes before BG came away with a 3-2 victory. Lisa Treadway had a double-double for Miami with 13 kills and 15 digs. The RedHawks gained their revenge with a 3-1 win on Nov. 10, 2011 in Oxford. Amy Kendall had the double-double this time with 38 assists and 10 digs.

ABOUT NORTHERN ILLINOIS: The defending MAC regular season champions, Northern Illinois is 12-8 overall and 3-1 in league play. Last weekend, the Huskies earned a pair of home wins by defeating Ball State, 3-1, on Friday and Toledo, 3-0, on Saturday. Before facing the RedHawks, NIU will host Western Michigan on Thursday. The Huskies are led offensively by senior outside hitter Meghan Romo. She has 256 kills, an average of 3.46 per set. Right behind her is sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Roddy. She has 245 kills, an average of 3.40 per set. Defensively, their top player is senior Amber Walker. She has 320 digs, an average of 4.71 per set.

THE SERIES AGAINST THE HUSKIES: The all-time series between Miami and Northern Illinois is tied at 17 wins apiece. On Oct. 8, 2011 in DeKalb, the Huskies came away with a 3-0 win in the last meeting between the schools. Cassie Farrell led the RedHawks with nine kills in that match.
