OXFORD, Ohio -- Former Miami RedHawk baseball players John Ely and Adam Eaton will participate in Wednesday night's AAA All-Star Game in Buffalo, N.Y., suiting up for the Pacific Coast League squad.
Ely is 8-6 with a 3.06 ERA for the Albuquerque Isotopes this season, starting 18 times for the Los Angeles Dodgers' affiliate. He has struck out 117 batters, just 17 shy of his full-season career high, in 109 innings, walking just 22.
Eaton, an Arizona Diamondbacks prospect, started the season at AA Mobile, but was promoted to the top minor league level after just 11 games. He is batting .383 in 75 games for the Reno Aces, registering 121 hits in 316 at-bats. He has an on-bast percentage of .452 and has stolen 23 bases. Eaton takes a six-game hitting streak into the all-star break, batting .413 during that span.
The game, against the team from the International League, will be televised live on MLB Network.
