RedHawk Lineup Begins to Take Shape

Letter Winners Fill All But One of the 22 Starting Positions

OXFORD, Ohio - If Miami's football season began tomorrow, 95 percent of the RedHawks' starting lineup would be letter winners. According to the depth chart established by Head Coach DON TREADWELL's staff at the conclusion of spring practice, only one of the 22 starters--tailback ROBERT WILLIAMS (Cincinnati)--is a non-letterman.

With fall practice sessions beginning in five weeks, it's a veteran group that the coaching staff has designated as the men to beat at their 22 respective positions.

Offensively, five letter winners would make up the front line: sophomore ZACH LEWIS (Mt. Prospect, IL) and junior JOSH HARVEY (Columbia, MO) at the tackles, sophomore MARCUS MATTHEWS (Manassas, VA) and senior BRAD BEDNAR (Mentor) at the guards, and senior JOJO WILLIAMS (Houston, TX) at center. Running No. 1 at tight end is junior DUSTIN WHITE (Lake Charles, LA). Manning the starting wide receiver positions would be junior NICK HARWELL (Missouri City, TX), senior ANDY CRUSE (Cincinnati) and sophomore DAWAN SCOTT (Columbia, SC). Senior quarterback ZAC DYSERT (Ada) would hand the ball off to Williams if the season began this week.

On defense, all 11 RedHawk starters have won at least one letter. The projected starting defensive line of junior WES WILLIAMS (Houston), senior AUSTIN BROWN (Woodbridge, VA), senior MIKE JOHNS (Oak Forest, IL) and senior JASON SEMMES (Clarkston, MI) have won a cumulative total 10 varsity letters. At linebacker, senior PAT HINKEL (Westlake), a safety in each of his first three letter-winning seasons, would be the starting Will linebacker. He would be joined by senior JAYTEE SWANSON (Buford, GA) at middle linebacker and junior CHRIS WADE (Slidell, LA) at the Sam linebacker position. The starting secondary would feature junior DAYONNE NUNLEY (Monroeville, PA) and CHRISHAWN DUPUY (New Orleans, LA) on the corners, and D.J. BROWN (West Chester) and BRISON BURRIS (Humble, TX) manning the safety spots.

Two other letter winners-placekicker MASON KRYSINSKI (Shelby Twp., MI) and punter ZAC MURPHY (Cincinnati)-are key men on Miami's special teams.
