Entering her second season with the Miami women's track and field team in 2012-13, Stacey Wannemacher is coming off a very successful first season after being named Miami's throws coach in October of 2011.

Wannemacher wasted no time making an impact on the program as she coached javelin thrower Tori Paterra to First-Team All-America honors at the NCAA Championships where Paterra finished seventh. In addition, Paterra posted three of Miami's all-time top-10 marks during the year, including the second-best throw in school history at the NCAA meet. Wannemacher also guided Alexandra Roberts to the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds and to Second-Team All-MAC honors both indoors and outdoors as Roberts earned runner-up in the shot put at both MAC meets. Roberts also broke both the indoor and outdoor school records in the shot put under Wannemacher's watch, while recording the top five outdoor shot puts in school history. Freshman Adaora Anunike cracked Miami's top 10 in three throws events in Wannemacher's first year as well.

Wannemacher, who was already serving as the program's director of operations as a graduate student at Miami before being hired as throws coach, came to Miami from Purdue, where she graduated in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership and supervision.

"We lucked into Stacey, having her here already as a graduate student, it made it an easy transition. She has great chemistry with the girls, threw at a very high level and knows what it takes to train and be an All-American. I couldn't be happier to have her join our staff," said head coach Kelly Phillips upon her hire. "Not many coaches have the knowledge of their event and can actually get in the ring, show you how it is done and more than likely out-perform you too. She is a great role model for her girls."

While at Purdue, Wannemacher was a three-time All-American in the shot put, qualifying for the Outdoor NCAA Championships in the event all four years and earning a spot at the Indoor Championships twice. She also qualified for the Outdoor NCAA Regionals in all three throws events (discus, hammer, shot put) all four years as a Boilermaker. Wannemacher captured the Big Ten title in the hammer throw as a junior as well in 2009.

Wannemacher is the indoor and outdoor school record holder in the shot put and is the only thrower in Purdue history to qualify for the Indoor NCAA Championships in both the weight throw and shot put, doing so as a redshirt junior in 2010. At the 2011 U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships, she placed 10th in the shot put and will continue to compete on the professional level while coaching at Miami.

Prior to becoming Miami's throws coach, Wannemacher handled various duties as Miami's director of operations, such as helping with recruiting, organizing travel arrangements and developing the program's newsletter.

In addition to Wannemacher's bachelor's degree, the Ottoville, Ohio, native also earned a minor in law and society and certification in entrepreneurship from Purdue.
