OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head tennis coach Anca Dumitrescu announced Friday that two recruits have signed national letters of intent during the early signing period. The RedHawks will add Hannah Shteyn of Staten Island, N.Y. and Erin Rodriguez from Highland Beach, Fla. to the squad beginning with the 2014-15 campaign.
“We are very excited to have Hannah and Erin join the program,” said Dumitrescu. “They are definitely quality players, they’ve had great results in juniors, so they will be able to have a great impact right away on our program. But more importantly, I think they are quality people. They are going to work hard and they are team players. The opportunity these players will create when they come into the program is exciting.”
Shteyn carries with her an impressive 5-Star rating from the Tennis Recruiting Network, the second highest ranking possible. Shteyn has ranked as high as 51st in the country among seniors this year while posting a 19-13 overall record. She also finished with a 6-5 record against other 5-star recruits.
Rodriguez also brings a 5-Star rating and has ranked as high as 60th in the country amongst all seniors according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. Her 48-28 mark over the past 12 months includes a very strong 25-5 clip against 4-star recruits.
The 2013-14 tennis team returns to action on Jan.17 when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind. for play in the Purdue Invitational. Mid-American Conference action begins Mar. 22 in Oxford against Northern Illinois.
