MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Miami women’s tennis opened Day 1 of the Memphis Invitational with a pair of first round singles victories as well as one win from the doubles bracket.

Sophomore Ana Rajkovic defeated Chattanooga’s Alison Storie 6-0, 2-6, 6-0 in the Orange Draw while freshman Andreea Badileanu beat Kelsey Coots from Chattanooga 6-2, 6-4 in the Black Draw.

Sophomore Chloe Heerden fell 2-6, 0-6 in her Pink Draw match to Vanessa Foltinger of Marquette. Senior Christiana Raymond lost her opening round singles match to Tulsa’s Isaura Enrique in the Blue Draw, 6-1, 6-1. In the Black Draw, junior Ramona Costea lost her match 3-6, 3-6 to Lipscomb’s Viktoria Borck. Junior Alix Thurman was downed 0-6, 3-6 by Memphis’ Anki Wind in the Gray Draw. In the White Draw, junior Christine Guerrazzi lost 2-6, 2-6 to Tulsa’s Rongrong Leenabanchong. 

In doubles action, Thurman/Raymond won 8-7 (4)  against Lipscomb’s Borck/Welcher before dropping their next match 1-8 to Tulsa’s Kuricova/Leenabanchong. Guerrazzi/Rajkovic lost their opening doubles match as well as their ensuing consolation match. Costea/Badileanu lost their opening doubles match and will begin play in the consolation round on Saturday morning.
