OXFORD, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly softball awards on Monday. Freshman pitcher/designated player Jenna Modic (Poland, Ohio) was named MAC East Division Player of the Week. It is the first weekly honor of her career.
Modic had the best offensive week of the season, recording hits in all six games while batting .522 (12-for-23). She drove in a team-best eight RBI, while recording an on-base percentage of .542 and a slugging percentage of .826. Modic came up huge in Miami’s doubleheader sweep of Ohio on Friday. She drove in a total of five RBI, which included a three-run home run in the nightcap, as well as driving in the only run in a 1-0 victory in the opener. She finished with four doubles, one home run and 19 total bases on the week, recording multiple bases in every game played.
Miami returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Northern Kentucky for a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m.
