FRASER, Mich.-After the first day of competition at the Junior World Qualifier, Miami University's junior team sits in fourth place among the 11-team field.

The RedHawks posted a score of 42.21 for it short program themed Devil in the Blue Dress, which is nearly two points better than its season-opening score for this program. Miami trials third-place Team Braemar (43.78) by just 1.57 points and second-place Lexettes (49.49) by 7.28 points. Skyliners lead the field with a score of 53.54.

Miami holds a 0.78 edge over fifth-place Synchroettes (41.43). Chicago Jazz (38.53), Saint Louis Synergy (38.35), Hockettes (38.02), Team Delaware (33.20), Capitol Steps (25.48) and Precisely Right (24.16) round out the Junior World Qualifying field, respectively.

Miami's junior team completes its stint at the Junior World Qualifier with its free skate program, themed Hollywood, on Saturday evening. Miami's senior team also will be in action on Saturday, skating its short program. On Sunday, the RedHawk senior team will compete in the free skate event, while the collegiate team will also be competing.  

The Junior World Qualifier is being held in conjunction with the Mid-America Championships in Fraser, Mich. The top two finishers at the Junior World Qualifier will advance to the Junior World Championships March 8-9.
