OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University Athletics will honor football alumni, featuring championship anniversary teams, this Saturday when the RedHawks host Eastern Kentucky at Yager Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
In addition to Band Day and local high school bands, Saturday will also feature recognition of the 1954 and 1974 Mid-American Conference Football Champions, as well as the 2004 MAC East Division Champions. In total, Miami Football is the winningest program in the MAC with 15 conference titles.
The 1954 squad was headed by legendary coach Ara Parseghian and beat its opponents by an average of 23 points during its 8-1 campaign that saw it post a 4-1 MAC record. Twenty years later, the 1974 team posted an unblemished 10-0-1 record (5-0 MAC) under head coach Dick Crum, which was capped by a Tangerine Bowl victory over Georgia. The 2004 RedHawks captured their second-straight MAC East title after going 8-5 overall and 7-1 in league play under the guidance of the late Terry Hoeppner
Miami will also retire No. 41 in Travis Prentice's honor at halftime.
