OXFORD, Ohio – Alumni from the Miami track and field and cross country teams are invited to return to campus for a special alumni weekend on Sept. 13.

The event centers around the Miami Invitational, the lone home meet for the men’s and women’s cross country teams.

The Saturday event begins at 9 a.m., where the RedHawks will race on the Miami Cross Country Course. In addition to the collegiate race, there will also be an alumni race. Following the conclusion of the race, the team will remain at the course to hold an alumni barbecue at 12:30 p.m. The event concludes with an alumni social, which takes place at Patterson’s Café (103 W Spring St.) at 6 p.m.

A plate at the barbecue costs $10 per person with a ticket to the social running for $20. The cost to attend both is $25. Among the confirmed attendees is Miami Athletics Hall of Fame member Bob Schul, who won an Olympic gold medal in the 5000m at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Friday to head women’s track and field/cross country coach Kelly Phillips, either by phone at (513) 461-1128 or (preferably) by email at phillika@miamioh.edu.
