CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its first weekly volleyball awards on Monday. Earning MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week is sophomore middle hitter Paige Hill. It is the first weekly MAC honor of her career.
Hill was the offensive leader for Miami, finishing with 34 kills in three matches, an average of 2.83 per set. She made only four attack errors in 69 attempts for an impressive hitting percentage of .435. Her performance earned her a spot on the Panther Invitational All-Tournament Team. Hill also had 10 blocks in the three matches, including two solo, contributing a total of 40.0 points on the weekend. She had nine kills and a .562 hitting percentage in a win over North Dakota State on Friday, and followed it up with nine more in the win over Robert Morris later that day. The next day against Milwaukee, Hill was one shy of her career high with 16 kills, and had five blocks (one solo, four assisted).
Miami returns to action this weekend when it participates in the Indiana Invitational. On Friday, the RedHawks take on the host Indiana Hoosiers at 7 p.m. On Saturday,, Miami faces Mississippi State at 10 a.m. and concludes the event against Southeast Missouri State at 5 p.m.
